Sedikit kritikan dari Anna. Berwaspadalah. Jeng jeng jeng.

Assalamualaikum and halooo semua.

Entry ni takda images yang nak dikongsi, cuma sedikit pendapat dan kritikan Anna. Btw, sorry belum tambah lagi links2 korang. Nanti I add ya... And Anna pon baru pulang dari Umrah, and sempat menangkap beberapa gambar. Insya-Allah Anna akan post as the next entry. So nantikanlah kemoncolannya!

Okay, so apa yang ingin daku keutarakan.

Anna notice kat Fotopages ni, or generally Malaysians. Ada satu stail ngan gambar2 mereka. Mostly when it comes to the post processing/editing. Anna sangatlah tak paham kenapa Malaysians suka sangat nak letak text pada gambar? Ramai pulak tu. Boleh katakan majoriti.

Honestly, bagi Anna, text mencacatkan gambar. Unless nak buat postcard, or advert ke, itu lainlah cerita.

To me lah kan, LET THE PICTURE SPEAK FOR ITSELF. Kan ada pepatah omputih that says "A picture is worth a thousand words". So kenapa nak tambahkan text? Kalaulah gambar tu perlukan text untuk sampaikan maksud atau feeling gambar, that means, your image is not strong enough.

Do you see images in National Geographic have text or taglines on them? Takda kan? Kalau ada it's just captions or explanations underneath the images.

Paling2 nak buat pun, maybe have a border and letak kat situ kalau nak sangat pon. But janganlah nak letak atas the image itself.

Anna mintak banyak maaf kalau agak kasar and menyinggung perasaan korang, cause Anna tau banyak korang letak text (Anna dalam diam2 tengok fotopages korang taw) Anna cam tengok gambar dah cun, tapi potong stim bila tengok ada text. Huhu.

Jika anda salah seorang pembubuh text, sila berikan hujah mengapakah anda berkelakuan demikian ropa? Huhu, curioous nak taw.

Mungkin ini skedara citarasa dan stail memasing. Jadi terpulanglah. But remember as I said, the image should speak for itself.

Bagi Anna nak letak text tu, untuk tujuan katakan buat postcard, kad raya, kad ucapan, or poster takdahal.

Tapi selain tu, just leave the image alone (editing tu lain citer). Tak payah nak tambah2 text. Caption, description di luar gambar tu sudah.

Anna tengok your page, some of your more graphic works ;ike 'The Black Rose', 'Chemical Violence' tu oraitlah buh text.

Tapi cam yang you buh 'Juju in action' tak berapa berkenan. Kalau Anna, Anna akan buang text tu, dan gabungkan suma gambar Juju into one piece, baru nampak dia punya 'action' tu. Tak perlukant text. Huhu. Kan?

And thanks, Alhamdulillah suma okay. Nanti Anna akan ceritakan in my next entry. Tima kasih respond. And sorry kalau anda terasa. Tapi Anna dah lama nak mention benda ni, then nampak macam makin ramai tulis text dah jadik macam trend, dah jadik tak boleh kalau tak letak. So yeah. I hope people understand.

Yeah, art is subjective exactly. Itu sebab aku ni malas nak bagi pendapat sangat, cause suma ada approach masing2. Terserah, tapi ni kritikan Anna. Cause Anna tengok, most comments kat fotopages hanyalah pujian, dan jarang ada komen membina untuk improve.

Anna pon ada gak penah buh text kat image, one of them gambar underwater, "diving lessons 101", sebab apa Anna letak cause gambar tu agak low quality, terlalu grainy, so Anna pon nak kasik 'artsy fartsy', kalau tak gambar tu tak brapa best. Tapi kalau boleh Anna prefer takda.

Tapi nampak skang ni, ramai yang tak sah kalau takda, kalau boleh suma gambar nak buh. Kira dah terlalu bergantung pada text untuk mengindahkan gambar. Kalau boleh challenge la diri tu supaya kuatkan message menggunakan gambar itu sahaja tanpa memerlukan bantuan teks.

Dan Anna memang suka typography. Yeargh. Cuma gunakanlah secara bijaksana!

Watermarks/copyrights is definitely okay. And some/most text do impair their images, but for some it does in a way make the image look better, but kinda of takes away the point why photography was there in the first place, 'to capture a moment', where before one could only express themselves through paintings, sculptures or writing. So what better way to capture a beautiful scenery with an image than having to describe it in words. =] 		Tue 5-Jun-2007 12:31

Apa yg di katakan oleh shuttersyndicate memang betul... Some of us (termasuk) saya jugak... yakni - "magazine" style.

Portraits photos like yourself normally have full of expressions. There is no need for text.

terikut2 is the problems of most. don't get me started with foto kahwin. almost everyone seems to have a similar style these days. but then again, who am i to say, since i don't take wedding pics, so it may be hard to take different styles? ntahla. tapi whatever it is, in some cases captions are okay, i've used them once or twice, usually my ID's, or headers, or ones I purposely tend to make them graphic incorporated

to everyone in general. what you're doing now is okay, as i mentioned if you want to put captions have a border and place it there so it doesn't interfere with the composition on the image itself. Though i remember I did say a similar to you back then. Hehe. If you still remember that is. ^_^

So the way you're captioning now is absolutely fine. Though haven't browsed your other works, I've been missing out on a lot.

But even for my non-portraits, like scenery I don't really put any captions or descriptions as part of the image, i prefer to write it separately.

Like magazines, the descriptions or captions are usually part of the page layout, not the image itself. Unless it's for the header of the image or they have those little tiny descriptions about the photo, but if you noticed, they usually put it on the sides like "Image on the left/Image below".

I still disagree about placing text within an image in most cases. But then again, it's all a matter of taste and personal style.

I apologize if I come a bit too strong, or kasar, about this. But now it seems that its becoming a 'trend' and a must-do, it used to be 'necessary' but now it seems more like a 'fashion'.

If you don't agree with me, it's alright. Everyone's entitled to their own ways.

I hope you don't hate me because of this. Hehe. I can be very opinionated at times.

i just thk that we'd explored photography to the end

saya pulak letak text untuk tulis nama. konon2 cam copyright org takleh amik la... tapi taruk kecik cekonet je kat edge gambar. cuma ada satu gambar tu letak on the image sebab mase tu gambar tu cam sesuai wat poskad, so cam ala-ala poskad. dan satu lagi ialah gambar cara nak masak brownies, so konon2 cam dia punye procedure la...kalo rajin tgklah kat FP saya dan bagi komen eh? thanks.
